Todd Roach is Mahaska Title’s general manager and is the primary individual operating our closing department.

Todd grew up in Oskaloosa, graduated from Iowa State University, and then attended graduate school in Mississippi.  In graduate school he met and married his wife Nannette, a clinical psychologist.  They then moved to the Tampa Bay region of Florida in 2001, where Todd was a research scientist with the Roskamp Institute.  The birth of their first child prompted Todd & Nannette to seek a locale closer to family, and in February 2004, they moved to Oskaloosa for Todd to manage Mahaska Title, owned by his parents Becky & Lyle Siefering.  Aside from the return to cold winters, Todd is happy be back home in Oskaloosa, appreciates small town benefits and enjoys being involved in the Oskaloosa business community.  Since returning to Oskaloosa, Todd & Nannette have had a second child and when finding any free time, they are typically involved in a never-ending list of home improvement projects.

Edna graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1958 and shortly thereafter began working for Johnson Abstract Company. In the beginning, she took off the courthouse records, posted to the tract books and did typing of abstracts. Within three years she started learning to do title research and has been doing all aspects of abstracting ever since. When Mahaska Abstract Company was started in 1977, she was one of the co-owners and continued doing all aspects of title research. In 1991, Johnson Abstract Company and Mahaska Abstract Company were combined and she retired for 6 months. She came back to work part-time, however that has developed into full-time. She is married and has six grown children, 13 grandchildren (who she really enjoys spoiling) and a dog. In her spare time she likes to read, travel, go to craft shows and antique shops. She attends most of her grandchildren’s sports activities, which really keeps her busy in the summer. She is looking forward to working part-time in the next few years and never retiring (we hope).

Kathy began working for Keokuk County Abstract Company in February 1990, after the youngest of her children began school. Her initial duties were typing, answering the phone, greeting the public, gradually doing a little bit of every aspect of abstracting.  In May of 1998, Kathy left the abstracting field to accept a position with MCI in Iowa City. She worked in their small business customer relations department. Re-entering the abstracting field in November of 2000, she accepted a position with Day & Bordwell Abstracts in Washington. In January 2001, Day & Bordwell opened an office in Sigourney and promoted Kathy to manager of that branch. She and her husband have four grown children: Leslie, Jeremy, Justin, and Jodey and one adorable granddaughter, Peyton. In her spare time, Kathy likes to read, go to movies, enjoy the outdoors, and hopefully eventually do some traveling.

Melody began abstracting in 1989 at Washington Title & Guaranty in Washington County.  The company used a beginning-to-end abstracting method where the abstracter did the research and the typing and then proofread with a co-worker.  Her first learning experience was doing handwritten take-off on index cards in the Recorder's Office.  Melody lives with her husband in the Skunk River bottom southwest of Keota on a farm that has been in her husband's family for over 150 years.  They have two sons and a daughter: a building inspector for Johnson County, a surveyor in Ankeny and a chef-to-be attending Indian Hills in Ottumwa.  Melody enjoys finding antique shops, and on the second Saturday of each summer month you'll find her and her husband at the flea market in Rutledge, MO.  She also enjoys genealogy, theatre, spending time with her family, traveling, and her flower gardens.

Candace joined the title research field when Johnson Abstract Company initially employed her in 1977. Beginning as a typist and research assistant, she gradually apprenticed into her position of title researcher. Lyle and Becky Siefering purchased Johnson Abstract Company in 1991 and merged with Mahaska Abstract Company, another acquisition of the Siefering's. In 1995, she accepted a position with United Title Services of Cedar Rapids, assisting in the opening and management of their title plant in Iowa City. She returned to Mahaska Title in 1997 and is very happy in her decision to return to Oskaloosa. Candace has three children, Amy, Julie and Jeff, and four terrific grandchildren, (yes, she has pictures) Jacob, Jackson, DJ, and Gracie. Candace is an active member of the Oskaloosa Community Theatre, Human Services Resource Council, and Main Street Oskaloosa. She enjoys reading, attending the theatre, searching for treasures at flea markets and antique shops, and pondering the deeper meaning of life.
